The text offers a lively and poetic description of the celebration of Ramadan in a child's voice filled with excitement. Ramadan Moon would be a perfect read aloud for a diverse audience. This book will help kids who are not Muslim understand Ramadan while helping validate the experiences of children who are Muslim. A teacher's dream book! It will absorb even the most reluctant young adult (or, ahem..adult) reader! This action-packed, futuristic, thriller is gripping until the very end. In the beginning a boy and a girl must be chosen each year from the twelve districts in the land of Panem to participate in the brutal Hunger Games...a reality T.V. show that pits these contestants against each other in a fight for their lives. The extremely likable main characters, Katniss and Peeta, are the tributes chosen from District 12 to participate in the games. As a result they are thrown into a plot racked with suspense, mystery, adventure, and even -yes- romance. I can't wait until the second book in this trilogy, Catching Fire, comes out in September! |
